Remotely Starting a ChargePoint Charge Session

At Evie LOOP stations that use ChargePoint chargers, members will sometimes plug in their car at the end of their trip but fail to activate the charging session with the included RFID card. This can result in a low-autonomy vehicle that displaces the next member.

This guide covers how to remotely start a charge session through the ChargePoint admin dashboard.

Note

Not all Evie LOOP stations use ChargePoint. This procedure only applies to stations with ChargePoint hardware.

Steps

  1. Sign in to the ChargePoint Admin Dashboard with an account that has permissions to manage stations.

  2. Navigate to the Stations Overview Table and find the station you need to activate.

    Tip

Most stations have multiple listings in this table — one per plug plus a communication gateway. For example: left plug HOURCAR / MAYA1, right plug HOURCAR / MAYA2, and HOURCAR / MAYA GATEWAY. A blue marker under "Station Status" means a vehicle is plugged in, but does not indicate whether charging is active.

  3. Select the station and open the Sessions tab to check if the vehicle is actively charging. If a session is active, it will show charge time and energy delivered. If not, you will see a No active sessions message.

  4. To start charging, go to the Status / Actions tab. Under the Troubleshoot section, click Start Session. ChargePoint will communicate with the station to begin charging. If successful, you will be redirected to the Sessions tab to verify that energy is flowing to the vehicle.

Important

  • Do not accidentally stop a session. If a charge session is stopped, it cannot be restarted remotely. The plug must be physically removed from the vehicle, returned to its dock on the station, and reinserted before a new session can begin.
