Standard Fees

Fees given are outlined in the Member Handbook. All these fees are generated manually by member services.

Guiding Philosophy

As a non-profit, these fees are not for revenue collection. They are instead a way to teach people how to be a good member of the car-sharing community.

We try to ensure without a doubt that the member was responsible for the thing we are charging them for before assigning a fee

This means getting confirmation from fleet or cameras, offering warnings for first offences, understanding that things could be shared responsibility of multiple members, and generally acting cautiously and with grace.

Fees

Late Return

Charged as per Late Trip Process.

Displacement fee

  • $25 for displacing another member with your return, goes directly to displaced member in driving credit.

Smoking and Vaping

  • first instance: $25 and suspend until confirm rules

  • second instance: $200 fee

    • We should consider on a case by case basis whether to give a third try or terminate on second strike. If the member has had other problems or harsher first warnings, termination may be appropriate at this step.
  • third instance: termination

Caused Dead Battery/Light left on

  • $25 first offense, $40 after. Wait for fleet confirmation of light on before charging.

Unsafe Driving Damage Fee

In the case of a crash, available footage will be examined for unsafe or reckless driving. If any unsafe or reckless behaviors are present and contributing to the cause of the crash, charge a $250 fee for unsafe driving damage or set up payment plan.

In addition to the fee, look at the member's history of unsafe driving and reference the Unsafe Driving Procedure to see how their membership status should be affected. They may need to be terminated along with the fee.

Reckless or Unsafe driving that did not cause a crash or damage should follow appropriate steps in the Unsafe Driving Procedure instead of this fee.

Unsafe Driving Behaviors

  • Handheld device use
  • Excessive speeding (20+ over limit or over flow of traffic)
  • Extreme reckless behavior: Racing, extreme road rage, aggressive driving
  • Driving by person not approved for membership
