Public Apps

The Evie Carshare app, used by the general public to access HOURCAR and Evie services can be downloaded from the iOS App Store and Google Play Store.

Private Apps

Some apps are available and intended only for use by HOURCAR staff. They are not available in App Stores and instead need to be installed manually.

  • iOS users can find instructions on how to sideload these apps here.

  • Android users may need to allow .apk files be installed from their web browser. Instructions here

Fleet Admin App

The Fleet Admin App is used by HOURCAR staff to access interact with vehicles and see assigned tickets from their smartphone. All fleet staff who work in the field will likely need this app.

Private Apps (Staging)

Staging apps are used to engage with the Staging server and vehicles, also known as a test server. This is an environment set up in a nearly identical manner as the production (PROD) environment, but is designed to be used for testing and understanding. Actions taken here will not affect real-world conditions. The Staging environment is often shortened to STAG.

Most staff will never need to use these apps, but any staff member can have access if they desire.

Many staff members may find this helpful for things like trying new Back Office features before they are fully released, or for practicing how to make a trip, etc. One example is Member Services being able to make test trips in a "fake" world, in order to give step-by-step instructions over the phone. Additionally, the STAG environment can provide access to the Show Bolt in a more streamlined manner.

To fully engage, you will need to make a new account in the STAG environment, as well as download a STAG Evie carshare app.

Setup a STAG account

This will feel very similar to making a new account in the PROD BO. It may be simplest to "register" from the STAG Evie app, linked below. Input your HC email address as the username, and filler information into things like the birthday, address, documents, etc.

  • The payment method will need to use 4242 4242 4242 4242 for the card number, and all other payment method information can be filler.
    • There will also need to be an approved "transaction" on the account, which can take some time to process with the above data.
  • The account will also need to be set to manager level permissions, so please reach out to IT to make sure that happens.

Bolt 101: Show Bolt

The STAG Evie Carshare app is the easiest and cleanest way to access the Show Bolt. It allows the Show Bolt to function as it would in the real world, using the app to unlock it and take trips, etc. The physical key function is a workaround, but causes issues like lost keys and confusion.

Therefore, IT recommends anyone who uses the Show Bolt to have STAG access initiated for ease of work.

Usage of the Show Bolt

IT recommends the STAG app as the most efficient way to access the vehicle, so please see the instructions just above for setup.

  • If you are part of the engagement team utilizing it for Events work, please check in with your supervisor as there is access to a shared account for ease of your workday.

Once you have procured an approved STAG account and the STAG app, you should be able to book/start/resume/pause/end your trips on the Show Bolt, just as you would a regular Evie in our normal fleet.

Calendar Scheduling

There is a new tool for scheduling your usage of the Show Bolt, located in our Microsoft 365 toolset. You will need to make a new calendar invite from Outlook, and invite "Bolt 101" as an attendee of the calendar event.

This will place the event on the Bolt 101 calendar, so that anyone in the staff can see if the vehicle is available for their usage. Please be sure to title your event something helpful, including your department. To see the events, add the Bolt 101 calendar to your personal Outlook list.

If there is already an event during your desired time, it is likely you will be unable to use the vehicle, but some departments have more flexible usage needs than others, so please be sure to communicate directly with the department in question.

Physical Key

The physical key for the Show Bolt lives in the office at 755 Prior. If for some reason it is needed, you will need to reach out to Engagement team for instructions on how to procure it.

Parking Location

The Show Bolt (Bolt 101 TEST) lives in the garage at the Prior Works building unofficially. This necessitates the paper in the window to be visible when parked there, with the MS phone number on it. Please ensure that it replaced when leaving the vehicle, to avoid problems.

Note

The parking location of the Show Bolt in the garage should always be in the northern-most section, in the last stall against the walls, on the side of Prior Avenue. HOURCAR has permission to ignore the "no parking" signs that are posted.

Charging Protocols

When using the Show Bolt, it should be plugged in to charge any time it reaches 120 miles or below, so as to ensure that the teams who need it will be able to achieve their tasks. Be sure to check this at the end of your trip and plug in accordingly.

There is a trickle charging cable that should stay with the vehicle to be used for charging, in coordination with the outlet on the northern wall of the parking garage. When not in use, the cable is stored underneath the floor of the trunk. This location keeps it out of the way of all the things the Engagement Team hauls to events. Please see the photos below for the exact location and orientation.
